Unable to Remove Required Password on Startup

When your device has 2 user accounts with the same name within the Windows Login page and you already have the password requirement removed, please follow the below steps to delete the second account and not require a password on startup.



  1. 1) Enter "netplwiz" into a Run Command.To do so either, Right Click Windows Start Button/Choose Run) or type netplwiz in the Cortana search window, choose run command.

  2. 2) Select User must enter a user name and password to use this computer 

  3. 3) Choose Apply

  4. 4) Restart Device

  5. 5) Upon Restart the Additional User will be Removed allowing you to sign in with User Name/Password

  6. 6) Sign in with User Name/Password

  7. 7) Enter "netplwiz" into a Run Command

  8. 8) De-Select User must enter a user name and password to use this computer

  9. 9) Choose Apply

  10. 10) Restart Device

  11. 11) Upon Restart the User Name/Password will not be required.
